Pflipsen Olivova Studio is the husband and wife team of Steve Pflipsen and Katia Pflipsen Olivová. Their designs and techniques were developed through experimentation as well as their studies and work in the United States, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.
Steve graduated from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls with a BFA in glass and ceramics. He expanded his knowledge of glass blowing, cutting, and polishing while studying in Ahus, Sweden, Pittsburgh, PA and Železný Brod and Kamenický Šenov in the Czech Republic.
Katia was born into a family of successful glassmakers in the Czech Republic. She specialized in glass painting and jewelry making while attending technical glass schools near her home. Katia has spent considerable time researching and experimenting to develop the unique soldering and metal working techniques she uses today in both her jewelry making and their glass sculptures.
Steve and Katia met and fell in love while both studying at a glassmaking school in the Czech Republic. They were married in Katia’s home town, Železný Brod, and moved to River Falls, Wisconsin in 2006 to continue their artistic collaborations.
Each of their glass sculptures and jewelry pieces are handcrafted and unique. Along with their on-line gallery, Katia and Steve sell their glass sculptures and jewelry through fine art fairs as well as in numerous galleries and shops throughout the U.S. They have won many awards and continue to expand the scope of their work and inspiration through their travels, experimentation, and nature herself.
